Jim Gore is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of THOR Wealth Management. Since establishing the firm in 1992, Jim has been the driving force behind THOR’s investment philosophy, applying an institutional-level discipline to individual wealth management.
Jim is a graduate of the University of Dayton, where he earned degrees in both Finance and Accounting. Jim began his career in 1986 when he joined the founding partners of Fund Evaluation Group, Inc. (FEG). He spent several years with the firm, eventually serving as its Chief Operating Officer. During his tenure, he worked extensively with large institutional retirement plans and private foundations, overseeing asset allocation studies and investment manager selection for multi-million dollar accounts. This deep background in institutional consulting continues to shape THOR’s rigorous approach to research and risk management today.
Early Life & Background Jim’s strong work ethic was established long before his career in finance. Born in New Jersey as the youngest of eight children, he moved to Miami, Florida, in the 6th grade. He held a variety of jobs throughout his youth, from caddying and cooking at McDonald’s to working as a glazier cutting and installing mirrors during his college summers. He also gained early corporate experience as an accounting intern with Chalks International Airlines and NCR Corporation.
Family & Interests Jim lives in Mariemont with his wife, Cindy, whom he met in college. They are the proud parents of two grown children. Their son, Matt, works as a pricing and analytics manager in Indianapolis, where he lives with his wife, Karolyn, and their three children: Henry, Mary, and Gabriel. Their daughter, Elizabeth (affectionately known as “ZZ”), is a former collegiate strength and conditioning coach (University of Houston, Mississippi State, University of Montana) and Cincinnati Bengals intern who now owns her own business, Limitless Run Coaching.
Jim is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing, hiking portions of the Appalachian Trail with friends, and skiing in Whitefish, Montana—a favorite family destination. When he isn’t analyzing markets or traveling, you can likely find him grilling on his Big Green Egg or pursuing his passion for numismatics, specifically collecting early American copper pennies.
